Dream of the Month (December 2010)
Dr. Holloway's Comments:
Striking Characteristics: A wild creature beckoning the dreamer may represent the call of a potential not yet fulfilled.
Dreams and myth are filled with stories of mysterious calls—haunting music in the forest or wild creatures that come to draw the heroine to her grand adventure. This owl-come-stallion promises the wisdom and mystery of the night, combined with a compelling power so immense it is almost frightening. This is not the first time this dreamer heard this call. Because we see her sleeping in her girlhood home, the dream hints that she is being visited yet again by the force of her own potentials, and the possibilities of her richer destiny. She may struggle with the appearance of factors that seem to clip her wings or curtail her wildness, but what she hungers for is freedom of consciousness and the claiming of her unfettered power. If she answers the call, her life will change, but it will be an adventure of the spirit, the mind, the emotion and the psyche. She need not lose the husband, the sleeping cat or the other cozy things she loves. The notion that we must choose between the home and the wilderness is an illusion, a product of our own resistance. The next step would be to stop screening out her own power and magnificence, and to trust that expansion is not destructive: it is the natural way of growth and healing.
