Dream of the Month (July 2006)
Dr. Holloway's Comments:
Striking characteristics: Some dreams of the deceased involve bizarre explanations of where the loved one has been all this time.
This dream presents a fictional plot line that accounts for the deceased father’s whereabouts (he wasn’t dead, he was just in prison). This type of dream may be recurring with variations: there is always the joy of discovering the loved one has a reason for being “gone” and that he may be visited, or may get to come back occasionally. These dreams are bittersweet though, for they typically include a sense of loss, guilt, or frustration that the loved one cannot stay, and must return to where they have been. Over time, these dreams may progress and become less painful, more reassuring and peaceful.
