Dream of the Month (June 2006)
Dr. Holloway's Comments:
Striking Characteristics: Amputations and transplanted body parts are often reflections of forced change.
Hands are symbolic of our ability to do things, to take our ideas and wishes and manifest them, to express ourselves and make things happen. The right side is often symbolic of the masculine aspects of our lives: the men in our lives and the parts of ourselves that deal with the world.
This dream marks an abrupt change that has left you reeling; the “clean cut” suggests that it feels as if something has been severed from your normal life. But you are dealing with this well, tending to the loss while you pragmatically make necessary adjustments. The “new life” probably feels awkward and unreal yet, and every adjustment may seem like a reminder of loss. But if anyone can make this work, you can. Already you are tending to your wounds, doing what must be done, and flexing your new potentials bravely. You will get the hang of this, maximize the growth, and heal the pain.
