Dream of the Month (December 2001)
Dr. Holloway's Comments:
Identifying Characteristics: Bridges often represent our chosen approach to achieve desired goals and circumstances.
Dreams of trouble on bridges are fairly common, often reflecting frustration and disappointment with a lack of progress toward what we desire. In some cases the bridges pertain to connections between people, often in close relationships. (In such cases flawed bridges symbolize challenging connections.) More generally, however, these troubled bridges reflect our astonishment when our best efforts and intentions have not resulted in the outcome we expected, hoped for and worked toward.
This dream suggests you have become more conscious and empowered recently regarding a situation that had begun to feel hopeless. Because dreams depict our psychic challenges as life and death struggles, it’s likely that you’ve retrieved your sense of hope from some “crash” that seemed unavoidable, and have oriented in a slightly different way toward what you wish to create. The dream also provides an important hint, that this particular struggle may require you to slow down in order to “go faster” in the long run.
