Dream of the Month (December 1998)
Dr. Holloway's Comments:
Exotic pets often represent parts of our personalities that are special to us, but which may be controversial or misunderstood by others. Because sharks are emblems of power, appetite and separation, it is likely that this “pet” represents the dreamer’s independent, adventurous side. An occasional mishap or bruise does not offend this side of him and it may have quite an appetite for movement or sensation. The little bite of the shark implies an integration of his sense of adventure, fun and freedom, and an instinctive recognition that there may be little costs involved in keeping this intense “pet”. Still there remains the issue of how to express this side of himself in a way that will not upset, frighten or confuse others. This question may be the theme of the next few years of his life. Because he instinctively strives for diplomacy and balance, it’s likely that he will evolve very functional and healthy ways to explore adventure and maintain rapport with others.
