Dream of the Month (July 2012)
Dr. Holloway's Comments:
Striking characteristics: A menacing dream of being stalked or chased is often a signal of inner crisis; a cry from the deeper mind to become more aware of threat and respond more directly.
Every symbol in nature can represent a positive or negative energy in our dreams. When reptiles are presented negatively, as in this dream, the dreamer feels like prey being stalked by a predator. Nowhere is this more dramatic than in the dreams of women who are in the early stages of being groomed for exploitation by someone who has predatory or parasitic qualities in relationship. Muddy or dirty water often represents the toxic, and bewildering terrain where it seems one cannot get a foothold, and what was once certain (the ground beneath your feet) seems open to question. During periods of economic or emotional uncertainty, people become more vulnerable to exploitation, more open to suggestion and manipulation. The dream may warn that myriad pressures impinging on the dreamer could set her up for reaching out to the wrong person for stability or comfort. On a positive note, however, this dreamer possesses a keen sense of her own danger, as well as clarity around good and evil, (or vitality and exploitation). She may be under pressure, but she is not likely to place her trust in a predator, just because she is feeling disoriented in the forest.
I strongly recommend the work of author Patricia Evans on verbal abuse and manipulation. Visit her website for free information: http://www.verbalabuse.com/ or view her books on Amazon.
