Dream of the Month (October 2010)
Dr. Holloway's Comments:
Striking Characteristics: A sequence of three often reflects a cycle coming to completion, and by implication, an opening for something entirely new.
When the dreaming mind creates repeating images, we can assume a message or signal is involved. While all dreams reflect our process, some attempt to lob a flash of wisdom over the fence of our consciousness. Quirky imagery, repeated sequences, and creatures or people who come in threes are hallmarks of a messaging dream. This cryptic set of dreams reveals little about the dreamer's circumstance, feeling or history: yet we can read the symbolism like an archeologist studying an artifact.
Notice that the three sets of creatures all carry overtones of extreme intelligence: the fox, the macaw and the crow are all emblematic of brilliance in nature, outsmarting the collective norm. The dreamer's relationship to the creatures is friendly and nurturing. She feeds the foxes, communes with the macaws; and rescues the crows; implying that these creatures represent aspects of herself, her own brilliance, shrewdness and nature-magic. The subtle message here is that this dreamer is completing a cycle of healing her own spirit: likely she has had her ups and downs for being so intelligent, so unique, and for not fitting in with the everyday mainstream. She is healing her shrewdness (the foxes), her voice (the macaws) and her magic (the crows). Possibly the wounding has been varied and even began with some mismatch with the family of origin (Foot). All of this is coming to completion and closure in a new way, freeing her to enjoy her gifts, her wisdom, her voice and her new adventures with a rich fullness and a new ease.
