Dream of the Month (July 2008)
Dr. Holloway's Comments:
Striking Characteristics: Highways often reflect our current experience with a project or specific life situation. The quality of the journey symbolizes the challenges or ease we’re having with the real life situation.
This dream is an emotional gut-punch, and it shows the dreamer pitted against a crisis. She is the heroine; trying to rescue others and prevent further disaster. This hints strongly that this dreamer is wrestling with something that disturbs her on a personal level, yet she’s being quite brave and hands-on in the way she’s facing things. When people or creatures are mowed down in a dream, this suggests that a dominating force is wielding power at the cost of a more vulnerable energy. This is a situation that has been going on for a while, and is now reaching a point of crisis that is really disturbing her. When we call 911 in a dream, we are saying to ourselves: This is not okay! I’ve got to do something or address this in a new way. This dreamer is very pro-active, not hesitating to take action, and she makes a good connection with the emergency operator, which suggests she is not personally conflicted, but knows what is right and wrong for her and for the situation. Also, note that the corpses are not dead after all, but are getting up as she calls for help. This suggests that something has been wounded, but is not yet lost. She can still correct things, and will prevail in the real life situation if she listens to her instincts.
