Or I may dream my tongue is rotting and I have to cut off the rot. The rot grows back and I have to cut it off again. Sometimes I dream my mouth is compacted with peanut shells and I'm digging them out. Itís always something I'm trying to hide and get rid of before someone sees it.

  5. Personal concerns/issues: I'm over weight and that is bothering me.

Dr. Holloway's Comments:

Striking Characteristics: Trying to remove foreign matter from the mouth typically suggests an ongoing experience that the body and spirit find intolerable or toxic.

Something that has rotted may symbolize a feeling that has festered or been held so long that it has become toxic. Since this dream series presents at least three images of inappropriate matter in the mouth and throat, (hair, rot, and shells) this implies a pattern of ideas and behavior long outgrown, but not yet released. When we are busy, challenged and coping on the fly, it is easy to continue believing old ideas and reacting in old ways long after we have emotionally evolved to a different place. Then, our old ways may become toxic, giving us the sense of being poisoned by our own life. Make the decision to be open to what you have outgrown and to turn toward what is truest for you. As a plant turns toward the sun, you can turn toward what your heart knows to be true, and the little choices will then become easy to navigate.
